Success Story of Mr. Sher Alam CHAL FOUNDATION REHABILITATION CENTRE BAGH (AJK) Chal Foundation, since its establishment, has been working for the rehabilitation of physically disabled community. It has been providing prosthetic, orthotic and physiotherapy services to the natives of Bagh and surrounding districts of Azad Jammu & Kashmir through its Rehabilitation Centre in DHQ Hospital Bagh. Thousands of physically disabled benefits from this centre each year.
Mr. Sher Alam, a 54 years old native of a remote village of Bagh, is one of the beneficiaries of the centre. He was working as Labourer at Karachi and was feeding his family (a wife, two sons and two daughters) back home when he got a road traffic accident in 2002, resulting in amputation of his left lower limb at below-knee level. He was brought back home and was thrown into a state of loneliness and helplessness. He had lost hope and was pertaining himself as a burden on his family. His elder son had to discontinue his education and work at Rawalpindi to earn for the effected family. Chal Foundation through its outreach program identified Sher Alam as a trans tibial amputee. The Outreach Worker visited his home to give him awareness about the treatment program and motivated him to visit the centre. He was consulted at the Foundation’s Rehabilitation Centre Bagh where he was provided with his first prosthesis. Upon prosthetic treatment, he became able to walk again and regain his hopes. Now, he is interacting with the society and is able to live independently by doing his work by himself. He has become an earning member of his family once again. He and his son are earning to afford the whole family and they are living a very sound life and thanking Allah Almighty and Chal Foundation for everything.
